Road Trench Reduction

Rhino Services completed a road trench reduction project involving the precise removal and off-site transport of excess soil, compacted aggregate, and accumulated construction debris from a deep utility trench using a high-capacity hydro-vacuum excavation system. Because of the equipment’s weight, operating demands, and the complexity of working within narrow trench profiles, the project required Class A CDL drivers paired with experienced vacuum truck operators trained in trench safety, shoring awareness, and industrial material handling procedures.

Crews worked to reduce the over-excavated fill and loose material inside the trench to restore the correct subgrade depth, improve site conditions, and support the upcoming road restoration and paving schedule. Using powerful vacuum equipment designed for precise, non-destructive digging, operators lifted dense, wet, and heavy material efficiently while maintaining controlled loading practices and secure transport cycles throughout the work.

In addition to material removal, Rhino coordinated equipment staging, material hauling, site access management, traffic control, and full cleanup activities to keep the project moving safely and with minimal disruption. The team carefully monitored equipment positioning near live traffic, hose routing, and vacuum loading operations to reduce downtime and maintain safe working conditions around active infrastructure and open excavations.

The completed road trench reduction project eliminated overburden, restored proper trench geometry, reduced the risk of future settlement or pavement failure, and returned the corridor to a clean, stable, and ready-to-pave condition for long-term roadway use.
