Railcar Reduction Project

Rhino Services completed a railcar reduction project for a major transportation and rail services company in the Atlanta area, involving the removal and off-site transport of accumulated product residue, heavy sediment, and solidified industrial material from a fleet of railcars using a specialized high-capacity vacuum truck system. Because of the equipment’s weight, operating requirements, and the confined nature of the railcar interiors, the project required Class A CDL drivers paired with experienced vacuum truck operators trained in rail yard safety, fall protection, and confined space entry procedures.

Crews worked to reduce residual buildup inside the railcars to restore full volumetric capacity, improve interior conditions, and support fleet readiness for continued service. Using powerful vacuum equipment designed for heavy industrial material recovery, operators carefully maneuvered hoses into the cars and removed dense, settled material efficiently while maintaining controlled loading and secure transport procedures throughout each shift. In addition to material extraction, Rhino coordinated equipment staging, material hauling, rail yard access management, track safety protocols, and comprehensive cleanup activities to keep the project moving safely and without interference to adjacent rail operations. The team continuously monitored equipment positioning near active tracks, hose routing to prevent trip hazards, and vacuum loading operations to minimize downtime and maintain safe working conditions around valuable rail assets and personnel.

The completed railcar reduction project increased available railcar capacity, eliminated residual product hazards, reduced operational risk, and returned the cars to a clean, service-ready state for the customer’s ongoing transportation needs.
