Hydraulic Fluid Oil Spill
When a hydraulic fluid oil spill occurred on an active Atlanta roadway, the sudden release created an immediate and dangerous situation. Hydraulic fluid on pavement forms an exceptionally slick film that sharply reduces tire grip and threatens the safety of every vehicle and pedestrian that passes through. Rhino Services responded fast with a fully equipped environmental response truck and a crew prepared to neutralize the hazard and restore safe conditions without delay.
The crew methodically dispensed a specialized absorbent material from the response truck directly across the entire spill area, allowing it to bond with the hydraulic fluid on contact and eliminate the slippery surface. Once the absorbent had fully captured the oil, a skidsteer scooped the heavy, saturated material and loaded it directly into sealed containers for off-site transport. No contaminated material remained to reignite the slip hazard or enter storm drains. Following removal, a Rhino street sweeping truck completed a final, thorough pass over the affected area. The sweeper’s brooms and vacuum system collected any remaining fine particles and absorbent dust, leaving the pavement completely clean, dry, and free of any residual slickness.
Rhino managed every phase of the incident, from initial containment and absorbent application through material removal, sweeping, and final inspection. By arriving quickly, working methodically, and clearing the spill completely, the crew converted a sudden hydraulic fluid release that could have caused collisions and extended road closures into a controlled, documented cleanup. The roadway was returned to safe, normal operating condition, keeping the public protected and the client’s project on track.
